Syndication

What is Syndication?
Syndication is the licensing of rights of copyrighted material (such as articles and spreadsheets) to companies or organizations for simultaneous or later publication by that company and the distribution of that content to the company’s Intranet or Extranet.

What is an Intranet?
An Intranet is a network that links together all of the individuals employed directly by a given enterprise whether located at the same site or not. If a company is a TMA member, then current TMA policies enable any and all of that company’s employees to receive TMA’s publications in the existing TMA publication format at no additional cost. TMA members must be provided with permission to store TMA publications on their Intranets. A syndication package can be developed for a given company that would include selected content from TMA’s regular publications coupled with content drawn from the various compendiums, daily news and other sources for which TMA members currently pay additional fees.

What is an Extranet?
An Extranet links suppliers and customers of a given corporation to that corporation. If a company is a TMA member, then it can purchase a customized syndication package that allow suppliers and customers of that company to receive TMA’s publications. The cost of this service varies with the package created. As with Intranets, a syndication package can be developed that includes selected content from TMA’s regular publications coupled with content drawn from the various compendiums, daily news and other sources for which TMA members currently pay additional fees.

Products and Services Available for Syndication
Member companies can design their own syndication program, choosing from the wide range of TMA content available. Products and services range from Desktop TMA, all of TMA’s compendiums, Public Policy Tracking, Full-text News, TMA Publications, Searchable Library Abstracts, Brand and Trademark files, and more.

Frequency of Syndication
Since companies all have different needs and financial situations, there is no set frequency for syndication to occur. You can customize how often you want to receive the products and services you’ve selected for syndication. Syndication can occur everywhere from immediately to hourly, daily, or weekly.

Format of Syndication
You can choose the format in which you wish to have information syndicated. TMA can syndicate information in .doc, .pdf, .html, and .xml formats.

Pricing
TMA’s syndication services offer a very dynamic pricing structure. Depending on your customized package, syndication could cost your company as little as $1,450 to as much as several hundred thousand dollars. The factors that influence the price of syndication include: number of users; content being syndicated; whether TMA’s logo is shown and whether links are provided back to tma.org; and the frequency of syndication.
